Monster Jam returns to Syracuse
Saturday night, the Dome was packed with families and friends as the intense, loud and colorful “Monster Jam” event came back to Syracuse for the first time in two years.
The event pits trucks against each other as they compete in three challenges: speed, two-wheel skills and freestyle. Drivers race their 12,000-pound trucks around stadiums across the country. They have perfected tricks like backflips and two-wheeled stunts and drive their monster trucks over 70 miles per hour.
One of the best-known trucks, Grave Digger, won the 12-driver competition. Behind the wheel was Tyler Menninga. All the stops on this tour will culminate with the Monster Jam World Finals so drivers are challenging each other and pushing their limits to land a spot in the final competition.
Other drivers competing on Saturday night included Kayla Blood in Soldier Fortune, Ryan Anderson, who has already qualified for the World Finals, in Son-Uva Digger and Cory Rummell in the shark-shaped truck Megalodon.
