Kocevski led the team and ACC in assists and is just the fifth player to record double digit assists in a single season.

The ACC announced today that senior Jeorgio Kocevski was selected as the ACC Men’s Soccer Co-Midfielder of the Year.

Kocevski, who earned All-ACC recognition last year, is the first Orange to win the award. The senior also took home All-ACC First Team honors, while senior midfielder Lorenzo Boselli was named to the All-ACC Third Team.

Kocevski leads the conference this season with 11 assists in 18 appearances and is one of only five players in program history to record double digit assists in a single season.

The defending National Champion Syracuse men’s soccer host North Carolina in the ACC Championship Semifinals today at 6 p.m.

Syracuse started their postseason play with a 5-0 victory over North Carolina State last week, the most goals in an ACC postseason game in the program’s history.

The Orange then played Virginia, the third seed in the conference, on Sunday. SU outscored them in penalty kicks 4-3.

Syracuse is the sixth seed in the tournament, while North Carolina is the seventh.

Field hockey earns NCAA tourney bid, will face Liberty

After a strong regular season, Syracuse field hockey will face Liberty University in the first round of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament on Friday, the NCAA announced this past weekend.

The Orange got a 10-6 record during the regular season, helping them earn a bid for the third consecutive season. The team enters the tournament with the 12th best RPI score in Division I while also having the fifth-best scoring average in the nation.

This will be the first time the two schools face each other in the tournament. The teams previously faced off in a regular season contest in 2016, where the Orange won 3-2.

Men’s basketball picks up first win post-Boheim era

Syracuse men’s basketball picked up the first win of the post-Jim Boeheim era on Monday, defeating New Hampshire 83-72. The victory is the first for head coach Adrian Autry, who replaced Boeheim after 47 years coaching the Orange.

Sophomores for the team showed out in the outing. Guards Judah Mintz, Justin Taylor, JJ Starling, Quadir Copeland and forward Maliq Brown all scored double digit points.

After their opening-day victory, Autry and the Orange will host Canisius today at 7 p.m., where they will look to add on the new era of Syracuse basketball.
